May 2026

We were delighted to welcome visitors to Eaton Manor on Sunday, 10th May 2026, for our Open Gardens event as part of the Shropshire Historic Churches Trust Open Gardens Scheme.

With beautiful spring weather and the countryside at its best, it was the perfect setting for a relaxed and enjoyable afternoon.

Visitors enjoyed wandering around the gardens at Eaton Manor, and visiting St Edith’s Church, a beautiful Grade 1 listed building, and rounding their visit off with tea and cake in our Events Venue and Secret Garden.

St Edith’s Church at Eaton

A particular highlight was St Edith’s Church, our Grade I listed church at Eaton-under-Heywood. Visitors enjoyed not only its historic charm but also the stunning floral displays created by Dorrington Young Farmers and Rushbury & Cardington Young Farmers, whose creativity added colour and beauty to this much-loved building.

A Team Effort

The event was made possible by an incredible team of volunteers, whose hard work ensured everything ran seamlessly.

From greeting guests on arrival and helping with parking to serving a delicious selection of afternoon teas, their enthusiasm and dedication created a warm and welcoming atmosphere throughout the day.

Enjoying the Poetry Trail

Visitors also took the opportunity to experience our Poetry Trail, which winds through the grounds at Eaton Manor.

Usually reserved for our holiday guests, it was a pleasure to share this peaceful and reflective feature more widely, and it proved a popular addition to the day.

Lots Raised for Local Causes

Most importantly, the event was a great success in supporting important local causes.

Together, we raised over £2,500, to be shared between the Shropshire Historic Churches Trust and St Edith’s Church at Eaton. Funds raised will contribute to the ongoing conservation and care of this historic church, helping to preserve it for future generations.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who came along to support the event, as well as to all those who contributed their time and effort behind the scenes.

Working with Local Charities

At Eaton Manor, we are always keen to support community and charitable initiatives.

Our Poetry Trail, beautiful grounds, and events venue provide a unique and versatile setting, and we warmly welcome enquiries from charities interested in collaborating with us to host their own fundraising events.

If you are looking for a special place to bring people together for a good cause, we would love to hear from you.
