School holidays are guaranteed to be filled with fun when you stay at Eaton Manor.
We have loads to do on the estate without having to get in the car!
Days can be spent outdoors in the large private gardens of each of our holiday homes, playing games on the playing field or perhaps a spot of friendly rivalry on the croquet lawn. Not to mention our 500-acre estate, around which we have plenty of private walks to enjoy. You can also enjoy a pony & trap ride or hire bikes during your stay to explore the surrounding countryside at your leisure.
However, if dark clouds are looming then fear not because we’ve plenty to do indoors too, including our fantastic games room, complete with numerous activities, and our covered and heated swimming pool and indoor badminton court. You could even try your hand at archery, with a ‘have-a-go’ session in our indoor range.
If you do fancy a trip out for the day, then the activities on your doorstep are endless, from mountain biking and hiking on the stunning nearby Longmynd to thrill seeking outdoor pursuits such as quad biking and high ropes, as well as horse riding and golf. If you’re after a more gentle pace, however, then very close by is the BBC’s Victorian Farm, Acton Scott, an historic working farm or, slightly further afield, you’ll find National Trust places to visit (which hold Easter Trails) at nearby National Trust sites, as well as Ironbridge, a World Heritage Site. The market towns of Ludlow and Shrewsbury are well worth a visit too.
Whatever you fancy and however young or old the kids are, we’re sure there’ll be plenty to entertain everyone at Eaton Manor and in the local area.
We also have a variety of Baby and Toddler items to ease the load when you’re packing the car. Items such as changing mats, potties, and nightlights can all be requested in advance and we’ll provide them free of charge for use during your stay.
With 2016 on the horizon, we’ve thought just how quickly 2015 has flown by, but when we think about all the things we’ve done this year it’s not surprising really…
We’ve welcomed over 2000 guests to Eaton Manor from all over the UK and many from further afield, for a variety of occasions including wedding anniversaries, business meetings, private retreats, team building breaks and big celebrations (from baby showers to 90th birthdays). We even had a group of guests with a combined age of 320 years playing table tennis at one stage, showing just how versatile Eaton Manor is for multi-generational groups.
We’ve been thrilled to have won two prestigious awards for our customer service, one at a national level, bestowed upon us by VisitEngland, the national tourist board, and one at a local level which saw us beat stiff competition from all sorts of Shropshire businesses, not just accommodation providers.
We’ve also maintained our Silver status from Green Tourism which is very important for us as it demonstrates our commitment to our environment.
In terms of our accommodation, we’ve completed a big renovation in our flagship property, the Manor House, resulting in it now being ALL EN-SUITE and even better than before. It still sleeps 14 but now in 7 en-suite bedrooms.
We’ve also opened a new property, Garden Cottage, which is a delightful country cottage at the heart of the estate. It benefits from a beautiful large, private garden and a very picturesque secluded courtyard. It sleeps 3 in 2 en-suite bedrooms.
Finally, but very importantly, we are now fully Open for Business and have a dedicated website to showcase what we can offer business groups at Eaton Manor. Please click here to visit the new website.
Earlier this month five amateur rowers from Shropshire embarked on a momentous challenge for charity…to row the navigable length of the Amazon River (2077 miles) totally unsupported, in 30 days!
The team, by their own admission, are not athletes, just five ambitious but otherwise ordinary men in their 40s, determined to stretch themselves, achieve something extraordinary and raise awareness and funds for some exceptional charities.
One of the crew, Stuart Manley, is a friend and neighbour of ours, as well as being the Master Craftsman who has been at the heart of all the building and renovation which has taken place in recent years at Eaton Manor.
The team are raising money for their selected charities, with The Motor Neurone Disease Association and Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research being Stuart’s chosen charities. Here at Eaton Manor we really wanted to show our support of this immense undertaking and have become gold sponsors of the challenge.
The team are pictured above at the Brazilian border crossing last week. From left to right they are: Simon Furnival, Andy Griffiths, Stephen Harpin, Stuart Manley and Martin Berry.
We wish the team all the very best of luck as they continue on their journey and look forward to hearing all about it on their safe return.

We are over-joyed to have been awarded the 2015 VisitEngland ROSE award, in recognition of Service Excellence.
Nichola and Laura accepted the award from VisitEngland at a special ceremony in London on 20th October.
This is a new national award and will be given annually to only 100 VisitEngland quality assessed accommodation businesses that go the extra mile to provide excellent customer service. VisitEngland assesses over 24,000 accommodation businesses each year!
VisitEngland state that Eaton Manor was chosen following an annual quality assessment and observations of the assessor, as well as other evidence being taken into account, including online customer reviews and innovation that sets the business apart, to include facilities or services offered to make the customer’s stay really special.
Eaton Manor has been established in the industry for over 14 years and we now work with over 30 local businesses in a collaborative approach to providing guests with a full package experience during their stay, either for holidays, celebrations, business meetings or events.
We are proud to have a fantastic in-house team at Eaton Manor and to work with all of these local businesses as well, and feel this award is testament to everyone’s hard work.
Make the most of some quiet time now that school has started again and enjoy discounted stays at the Manor House and Pendennis from 25th September to 22nd October 2015.
Sleeping 14 a piece, these two properties are perfect for relaxing retreats with friends and provide a great base from which to explore the beautiful county of Shropshire.
