2016 is the Year of the English Garden, celebrating one of England’s greatest attractions and marking the 300th anniversary of ‘Capability’ Brown.

We wanted to mark the occasion by promoting the wonderful gardens in Shropshire and neighbouring counties that are all close enough to visit whilst staying at Eaton Manor.

Berrington HallIn fact the National Trust’s Berrington Hall, just 20 miles away, is a designated Capability Brown site, with its park created by the famous landscape architect from 1780.

Powis Castle

Powis Castle, also a National Trust property, 28 miles away, has stunning gardens which are truly worth a visit.

Shrewsbury Quarry ParkShropshire has parks and gardens in abundance that are of special significance nationally and locally. The Dingle in Shrewsbury’s Quarry Park is a floral masterpiece created by well known gardener Percy Thrower.

Eaton Manor We are also extremely proud of our own gardens right here at Eaton Manor and our Head Gardener, David, and his team work tirelessly throughout the year to ensure they are overflowing with colour in every season.
