Macmillan Cancer Support: Our Charity of the Year

Posted & filed under News.

We are proud to announce that we are supporting Macmillan Cancer Support as our charity of the year to help raise crucial funds for the charity.

We kick-started our year of support recently by providing our banqueting room on a complimentary basis for a Volunteer Rally hosted by Fundraising Manager for Shropshire, Helen Knight. The rally was attended by 45 Macmillan committee members and volunteers from all over Shropshire and was held to thank them for their untiring efforts and continued support. Motivational presentations were given by a number of people including a Macmillan Nurse, Pia Thompson, and also by Ashley Green a cancer sufferer with a truly amazing story and inspiring outlook on life. Ashley said “It’s been really special to meet some of the people who’ve contributed to my well being and made it possible for me to have access to such beneficial help from Macmillan Cancer Support.”

Our aim is to raise £3000 by next summer and we’ve made a good start with over £700 already raised from events that took place over the summer. We wanted to support Macmillan Cancer Support as our charity of the year to recognise the truly wonderful work carried out by Macmillan nurses on a daily basis and to help raise much needed funds so that the care provided in Shropshire is able to continue. Macmillan provides practical, medical and financial support to those affected by cancer and they push for better cancer care.

Helen commented, “We’d like to thank Eaton Manor for choosing Macmillan Cancer Support as their charity of the year and for their generosity in providing a venue for our motivational Volunteer Rally. We are looking forward to arranging a variety of fundraising events with Eaton Manor over the coming months and are delighted that the proceeds will help improve the lives of those affected by cancer.”
