Superbly restored and lavishly decorated with convenience and comfort in mind, the
17th-century Manor House is at the heart of the Eaton Manor Estate in nearly an
acre of private, gently rolling gardens, perfect for a game of cricket or an afternoon
drink on the lawn. The Eaton Brook flows at the bottom of the garden, making it
a lovely spot for wildlife watching or perhaps fishing from the stepping stones
during the summer months. The house itself is no less lovely than the grounds, combining
a wealth of interesting historic features such as timber framed walls, leaded windows
and original flagstones with modern luxuries and a well-equipped
kitchen for adventurous cooks. The brook is now fenced to keep our youngest guests
safe.
The Manor House Accommodation
The Manor House has five main bedrooms plus the snug, each individually decorated
to preserve the warmth and character of the rooms. Downstairs is the Master Bedroom,
newly decorated with a stunning 6' double bed and en-suite bathroom; as well as
the Garden Room with twin/double bed and spectacular French windows with glorious
views down to the brook.
Upstairs is the Terracotta Room, featuring exposed ceiling beams, original leaded
windows and a grand Queen Anne-style mahogany four poster bed for added luxury.
The newly refurbished Blue Room has three single beds or a double and a single with
dramatic views to the Wenlock Edge, while the Green Room has rustic exposed wall
and ceiling beams, a twin/double bed and beautiful views to the garden. The Snug
has a 4'6 double bed and is accessed through the Green Room, making these two rooms
particularly suitable for families.
The rest of the house is well-appointed with plenty of room for guests to spread
out. The entrance is via the south-west facing conservatory with views of the Wenlock
Edge, which leads to the tiled hall and then the dining room featuring an oil-fired
Aga and a huge oak table seating 18 - ideal for meals with the whole family.
The new kitchen complete with granite worktops has everything you need to cook up
a feast, including a dishwasher, larder fridge, freezer, microwave, range cooker
with two ovens and a washer dryer. A stone staircase from the dining room leads
down to the salt cellar, the ideal place for muddy boots with access out to the
garden. Across the hall from the dining room is the drawing room, a warm and welcoming
room complete with original beams and a Victorian range which was discovered bricked
into the wall. Of course, there are plenty of sofas as well as a 42" freeview television,
DVD player, many books and some board games for entertaining evenings.
The Manor House has three bathrooms; the main bathroom on the first floor with bath,
shower, sink and wash stand, a toilet/shower room off the salt cellar, and the en-suite
bathroom to the ground floor master bedroom.
